Project Management

Salam Technology projects start with an internal handover process from the Sales Department to Projects Department. The initiation process group determines the nature, key control indicators and scope of the project. In this stage Salam Technology develop the project charter document, which consist of the following critical information, to initiate authority to project team.

  • Business case
  • Scope and deliverables
  • Objectives
  • Resources needed
  • Milestone plan and timeline
  • Cost estimate
  • Risks and issues
  • Dependencies

Salam Technology establish an appropriate level of detail at this stage of the project cycle. The main purpose is to critically plan time, cost and resources adequately to estimate the work needed and to manage risks effectively during project execution and to ensure that prompt solutions are implemented whenever deviations, delays, bottlenecks are detected.

Planning phase include, but not limited to the following:

  • Developing the scope statement
  • Developing the schedule (Gantt chart)
  • Resource management
  • Creating a work breakdown structure
  • Risk planning
  • Communication planning
  • Quality planning

This information forms the project contract, used to gain formal approval to begin work.

Execution Process ensures that planned project activities are carried out in an effective and efficient way while ensuring that measurements against project plans, specifications, and the original project feasibility concept continue to be collected, analyzed and acted on throughout the project lifecycle.

The controlling process concerns monitoring the project to identify potential problems, such that they are mitigated in a timely manner before they can have an impact on the project. This controlling and monitoring is continuous for the life of the project.

All of process areas identified in the Planning Phase have controlling components. The information that is generated from these process is what feeds the reporting, meeting and governance of the project within Salam Technology. This data allows corrective or preventative actions to be identified.

Status reporting is an integral part of Salam Technology monitoring processes. It is the means by which the project team, the stakeholders, and executive management stay informed about the progress and key activities required to successfully complete the project. The Status Report are tailored to the project, but are the same form for the full team. The Reports are prepared by the project team detailing activities, accomplishments, milestones, identified issues, and problems.

The Status Report Template are used to report key information including:

  • Current status
  • Significant accomplishments for the period
  • Scheduled activities
  • Issues

Along with the Status Report form, the following may be attached:

  • Updated Gantt charts
  • Recovery plans for ctivities not on schedule
  • Corrective action plans for expected problems
  • Resolution to assigned action items

At this point, Salam Technology evaluates how well the project has performed. This is done using the project closure report. It communicates how well the project has performed against its original business case, quality measures, cost, duration and tolerances.

The key actions during this phase involved:

  • Identify lessons learned
  • Review and document
  • Archive records
  • Recognize outstanding achievement
  • Disburse resources
